Now, as far as I’m concerned, the massage chair is the ultimate piece of consumer technology. And Family Inada is always adding new technologies to try and make their chairs a little more high-tech than the next guy’s.

Among the features they’re introducing this year are little microphones on the chair with voice recognition so you can actually talk to it say “harder, softer, stiff back, stiff neck” and the chair will respond.

“There are 21 different commands and there’s a general voice recognition, as well as these four buttons so you can program your own voice into it so it raises the voice recognition level,” said Fuyumi Sato of Family Inada.

Or, if you’re too relaxed to even speak, one chair has a joystick remote for you to control, design, and save your own personal massage routine.

Neither offers an option to help get you out of it and back to work by Monday morning.
