Inada Massage Chair D.1 Offers Ultimate Relaxation From Head to Toe

July 29, 2001 — Family Inada, maker of the world’s first shiatsu massage chair in Japan, now offers another world first — a full-body massage chair that adapts itself to the shape of your body with state-of-the-art infrared technology. The Inada Chair D.1, currently sold only in Japan, will be available in the U.S. for the first time this September and retails for $4,900. The Inada Chair is the only massage chair that uses state-of-the-art infrared technology to scan the user’s body. The infrared scan measures height and detects pressure points, offering a customized massage. The D.1 model’s full-body massage also provides revolutionary arm and hand massage.

“We are proud to introduce our newest luxury massage chair, D.1, to the American consumers this September,” Nichimu Inada, president of FAMILY INADA.

”We have gone beyond simply enhancing the ‘relaxation’ process to incorporate the benefits of ‘therapy.’ It offers customized full-body massage like no other.”

Inada Whole Foot Shiatsu:
The Whole Foot Shiatsu feature uses air cushions above and below the foot to apply firm pressure to each toe, while ankle air cushions work hard to massage the difficult heal area, resulting in a pleasant, relaxing sensation and a deeply effective massage.

Inada Triple Action Arm Massage:
Newly designed air cushions feel like human hands as they wrap all the way around to grip the arm firmly. Next, pressure is applied from below to lift along each shiatsu point, and finally the points are massaged with a realistic action that mimics the human hand. It even works on the fingertips to stimulate blood flow.

Inada Full Contact Recline:
The Full Contact Recline keeps track of your main shiatsu points in any position to ensure that every part of your body remains in direct contact with the chair regardless of your height, weight or angle of recline, providing a true full body massage every time.

In addition to the new D.1 model, two models of the Inada Chair are currently available in the U.S. — the H.9 Alpha and the i.1. The H.9 Alpha, the world’s first massage chair with the Synchronized Music Program, retails for $3,900. The i.1 features all of the programs the H.9 model offers except for the Synchronized Music Program and retails for $3,200.

The INADA Chair is sold at INADA retail locations across the U.S. For more information, visit INADA online at or call toll-free 888-769-0555.
